Overview

Hexagon Autonomy and Positioning (A&P) is looking for Supplier Development Specialist. In this position, you will lead Supplier sourcing, qualification and development activities. You will work collaboratiively with Supply Chain, Product Engineering, and Management to ensure Hexagon maintains a world class supply chain. Our customers rely on Hexagon A&P's industry-leading technology when building their own solutions. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position can be based in Calgary, AB, Morton, IL, Tuscon, AZ, Torrance, CA, United States or Florianopolis, Brazil.

Responsibilities

As our Supplier Development Specialist, responsibilities include:

    In coorperation with functional groups identify supplier capability gaps and lead a cross-functional team to select, qualify and on-board new suppliers
  • Lead on-site and remote supplier qualification audits based on ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements, prepare reports and present to stakeholders along with business fit recommendations
  • Monitor supplier performance and develop / implement effective action plans to improve poor performing suppliers
  • Drive supplier improvement through collaborative problem solving and work directly with suppliers to create corrective action plans to address process failures
  • Make tough decisions to stop supplier production line due to quality concerns and manage recovery with strong sense of urgency
  • Manage the AVL (Approved Vendor List) & SQPR (Supplier Quality Performance Reporting) processes.
  • Actively participate in supplier recovery efforts by managing technical issue information, providing technical disposition for supplier caused issues, and reviewing metrics for trending data
  • Continually improving Supplier Quality Engineering process and best practices
Qualifications

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or Material Science discipline.
  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience in supplier qualification or high tech manufacturing process development
  • Experience in the high-tech manufacturing sector and broad knowledge of different manufacturing processes: Injection Molding, Machining, casting, SMT/PCBA etc.
  • Willingness and availability to travel, North America and Internationally
  • In-depth knowledge of quality engineering techniques i.e. problem solving such as 8D, root causes analysis, 5 Why, etc.
  • Effective written and verbal English language communications skills

Proven Success Factors:

  • Proven collaboration skills with cross functional teams (i.e. readily and willingly shares information and expertise with others and facilitates the exploration of ideas and solutions)
  • Practical understanding of LEAN methodologies as applied in high tech manufacturing and
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO14001 with APQP and PPAP experience
  • Application of Quality Control Tools (SPC, Gage R&R, Process Capability, FMEA, DOE)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills to collaborate effectively in building a team and influencing others in a highly matrixed and cross functional environment
  • Confident Self-starter motivated by challenging work

Nice-To-Have:

  • ISO Lead Auditor Certification, ASQ Certification or ISO Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety practices
  • Language Skills a Plus (Spanish, Portuguese)
