SUMMARY

The Lead Technician is responsible for assigning, leading, and directing of other aircraft maintenance technicians under their supervision. They also provide training and coaching in performing aircraft and component maintenance and modifications. The Lead is a working member of their crews and participates in the daily tasks as required.

SALARY

The compensation for this position starts at $41.00 per hour including position premium and A&P license premium. Shift differential is available on eligibility. This position is eligible for a $10,000 Sign-On Bonus plus a retention payment of $7,500 at the one-year anniversary.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Northern Air Maintenance Services, LLC (NAMS), headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, is an FAA Certified 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station that is the sole maintenance provider for the fleet of three (3) DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft owned by the largest oil company operating in Alaska. NAMS provides aircraft maintenance, ground operations, inventory control, and other related support services for all flight operations from Anchorage to Kuparuk and Alpine. In addition to providing services for three (3) DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft, NAMS provides all below-wing services including baggage handling and screening, aircraft catering, aircraft ground operations, and passenger screening. NAMS employs over 70 people in Anchorage, Kuparuk, and Alpine to service the Q400, while also supporting the oil company with contract maintenance on two (2) DHC-6-300/400 Twin Otter and one (1) CASA 212-300 aircraft maintained in Alpine, AK.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be knowledgeable and have extensive experience in the repair and troubleshooting of Company maintained aircraft.
  • Supervise personnel and maintain adequate production levels.
  • The Lead Mechanic derives their authority from and is directly responsible to the Maintenance Foreperson.
  • He must be capable of troubleshooting applicable mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrates a high skill level as a mechanic and supervises personnel.
  • Perform the duties of Flight Mechanic when scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must possess valid Airman Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings.
  • A moderate degree of reasoning, math skills, and language skills are required for this position. High School levels are sufficient for all areas.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with coworkers and customers.
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A solid understanding of TRAX is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Active and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and maintain eligibility per DOT/FAA guidelines.
  • Valid passport or acquire one within the first 6 Months of employment.
TRAVEL
  • Occasional in/out of country travel will be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The work is classified as "heavy".
  • Physical ability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position in a safe and effective manner including lifting up to 70 lbs, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, moving aircraft and equipment, dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, exposure to hazardous materials, exhaust fumes, working in confined spaces for extended periods, and working outside in harsh winter conditions for up to 2 hours at a time. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators is required.
