WHAT TO EXPECT

Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and IT team members to provide functional expertise and technical support in areas as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Product Marking and Labeling Systems (LMS) and other technologies as used on shop floors. Leads and contributes to key transformational projects initiated to enhance systems performances, modernizing, and simplifying existing footprint. Understands business requirements that drive the analysis and design of technical solutions aligned with business and IT strategies. Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, configuring, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting application software for manufacturing. Makes recommendations towards suitable software technologies to be selected, methodologies of implementation and ongoing support delivery. Responsibilities may also include participation in system, component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the plants shop floor systems (MES, MES, CMMS, QMS, LMS) including maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, and expansions.
  • Provide technical support and functional expertise to existing shop floor systems (MES, CMMS, QMS, LMS).
  • Analyze the business requirements and propose solutions meeting business expectations.
  • Maintain and enhance software systems/development processes for our Manufacturing Execution System, utilizing Java, .Net and/or other development platforms MVC, WPF, SQL, VB6
  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to existing shop floor systems to continuously improve performances, availably and reduce support.
  • Continuously optimize IT support and service delivery related to shop floor systems.
  • Contribute to the development of tools to improve the efficiency of shop floor systems development, deployment, and support.
  • Assist with testing the functionality developed in different testing efforts.
  • Contribute to build automation and Continuous Integration/Deployment for MES and tools applications.
  • Act as a champion, change agent, and mentor to bring new technologies, techniques, and principles for software engineering excellence.

Essential Duties:

  • 40% - Maintenance and Administration (MES, CCMS, QMS, LMS and other shopfloor systems)
  • 20% - Technical Support with functional guidance
  • 30% - Project Management, Project Contribution
  • 10% - Continuous Improvement, Others

Project Management:

  • On assignment, act as key team member or project manager for shop floor systems.
  • Work jointly with business stakeholders, IT Application Management Services, IT Infrastructure technical Services to align solution(s) requirements and demand with technology capabilities and overall Gates technological roadmap.
  • Follow the guidelines of the Gates Global IT Program- and Project Management Framework.
  • Establish and maintain the regional and site-specific IT projects roadmap.
  • Is responsible and accountable for assigned IT projects in terms of scope, schedule, cost and delivery.

Vendor Management:

  • Support and assist regional and global IT leadership teams negotiating and partnering with local vendors.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Is responsible and accountable to identify, report, implement productivity improvements and cost savings measures targeted to achieve a 5% YoY reduction of the local, site specific IT operating cost.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • System Engineer IT - Manufacturing maybe required to supervise external resources working on projects and maintenance activities.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's Degree bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain operations, and/or IT supply chain preferred
  • At least 5 years IT Manufacturing or supply chain operations.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing operations and core processes
  • Experience with shop floor systems configuration and maintenance.
  • Expert level with Microsoft .Net technologies (VB, C#, SQL)
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with VB6 technologies
  • Experience Implementing:
    1. Manufacturing Execution Systems (Oracle, SAP, Dassault Systems)
    2. Wonderware / AVEVA MES (InTouch, InTrack, InBatch, Historian)
    3. Infor EAM, MP2 CMMS
    4. InfinityQS
    5. NiceLabel or similar LMS
    6. Reporting and Dashboarding tools (SQL, Oracle DB, Tableau, Microsoft SSRS and Power BI)
  • Understand principles of Master Production Schedule (MPS), Material Requirement Planning (MRP), Inventory- and Work In Process (WIP) Management.
  • Experience integrating Enterprise Resources Planning systems (ERP) as Oracle EBS, SAP S/4 with MES and shop floor systems.
  • Understand with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Factory Performance and Reliability (FP&R, OEE)
  • Experience with LEAN and Operational Excellence.
  • Understand Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Standards, Quality Standards and Regulatory Requirements.

When working outside the office as in Laboratories, Test facilities, Manufacturing plants, Warehouses and Distribution Centers, employees must wear personal protective equipment as prescribed in the area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work generally consists of operating IT equipment and systems by use of computers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position is an on-call position and will require work outside of normal business hours. Weekend work will be required on an occasional basis to match available maintenance windows for IT system maintenance.
  • This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of work time.

PAY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time
  • Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire.
  • Three (3) weeks of paid vacation and sick days + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating)
  • 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match
