POSITION SCOPE

Traffic Control Technician is a safety sensitive position that sets up and removes traffic control/safety in and around construction zones and crews. Responsibilities include set up, removal and repair of temporary and permanent traffic control devices in work zones. The position is based in Blythe CA area and requires frequent travel and overtime. Work schedule may require occasional weekends.


PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Operates company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site.
  2. Drive MOT (Management of Traffic) or TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) vehicles to and from project and on work site.
  3. Install, remove and reset delineators, signs, posts and supports.
  4. Follow safety precautions to protect motorists and construction crews.
  5. Place temporary construction signs, barricades and traffic cones in work area.
  6. Place arrow board/message board or other traffic safety devices as necessary.
  7. Check work zone throughout shift to be sure traffic safety devices are still in proper location.
  8. Load and unload equipment and materials at beginning and end of shift.
  9. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND

  1. Applicant must be at least 18 years old.
  2. ATTSA Certification as a traffic control technician is required.
  3. Flagger Certification required.
  4. A valid Driver's License is required to operate company trucks.
  5. Previous experience setting up traffic control closures and maintaining traffic control devices on a highway construction project preferred.
  6. Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications.
  7. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  8. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and physical
