Position Summary:

Reporting to the Electrical Production Engineering Manager, The Switchgear Electrical Designer is responsible for the documentation, integration, application and technical support on G&W protection and control products.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

General

Establish and document standard designs, processes and products.

Operate with moderate supervision and instructions contained in prints, conceptual drawings or models and free hand sketches. Supervisor prioritizes work assignments.

Assist Electrical Design Engineers, Sales and Marketing, and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new product lines.

Manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.

Drafting

Generate drawing packets, which document control assembly, logic, point to point wiring, and system interaction, that are used by internal and external customers.

Prepare models and drawings that will be used by the Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, designers, and drafters to document electronic assemblies and Bills of Material for orders.

Technical (Electronics)

Test programs and designs created by Electrical Design Engineers.

Work with quality department to inspect and approve parts on first article; work with quality to resolve issues with NCR'd parts.

Provide technical support to Manufacturing, sometimes consisting of second shift and weekend support, to troubleshoot issues with control design.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma

5 - 7 years work experience in Engineering design, and / or development preferred

Knowledge of and experience with power engineering systems fundamentals preferred.

Experience creating drawings, models or assemblies on CAD software is necessary, Electrical Schematics preferred.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate the activities within the team comprised of diverse tasks and demanding schedules.

Ability to work effectively with all departments and suppliers.

Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and project applications is required

Experience in electrical and basic mechanical troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Physical Demands / Working Conditions:

General Office Environment, PC use

Light Lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)

Stooping/Bending, squatting/kneeling - occasional

Standing

Heavy Lifting and/or carrying on an occasional basis up to ~ 50lbs
