Job Description

JO# 68771 The Infusion Staff 2 Pharmacist is responsible for independently administering multiple aspects of the Infusion Pharmacy. Provides comprehensive Outpatient Pharmaceutical Services in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and Placer Center for Health, supporting both adult and pediatric infusion centers and ambulatory clinics. Responsible for dispensing and monitoring oncology and non-oncology infusions, investigational drug protocols and various other injectable products. Provides symptom management and medication counseling to patients and oversees sterile product preparation. Oversee sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous drug preparation in the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center Infusion Pharmacy and Placer Center for Health Infusion Pharmacy. Works directly with pharmacy technicians to oversee accuracy or product preparation and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Pharmacist license
  • Successful completion of a pharmacy residency or equivalent practice experience required (e.g. PGY1/PGY2 residency or minimum of 3 years pharmacy practice experience)
  • Previous Inpatient Pharmacy Experience including clinical and operations experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certification preferred (e.g. BCOP, BCPS)
  • Previous clinical research and/or investigational Drugs Service Experience, including preparation, dispensing, and tracking of investigational products preferred.
    Previous Oncology experience
  • Knowledge of inpatient, outpatient, ED and ancillary/procedural department pharmacy workflows and processes
  • Knowledge of ethical and regulatory requirements for conduct of human subjects research
  • Previous EPIC/BEACON experience preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of academic hospital practice and investigational drug control procedures including FDA regulations and NCI requirements
  • Must be able to read and interpret research protocols, pharmacy manuals and investigator brochures for investigational agents.
  • Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
  • Ability to work with, direct, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, residents, and students.

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. Asa department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with46 total residents in 13 different programs.

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
