Description
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of organization's Short-Term Load Forecasting (Operational Forecast) and its tool(s) and trains other staff as needed.
  • Prepare the Long-Term Load Forecasts for AECC and its distribution cooperatives by using econometric modeling analytics in accordance with RUS's guidelines.
  • Responsible for error analytics of the internal Short-Term load forecasts and implementation of external (Steel Mill or other erratic load) load forecasts. Determines cost of errors to AECC's members and recommends improvements.
  • Keep current Short-Term Load Forecasts continuously available to Power Market Operations and provide training as needed on the use of load forecasting tools.
  • Prepare an annual Demand Response Survey that evaluates the peak shaving efforts of AECC, and its member cooperatives.
  • Coordinate AECC's Appliance Saturation Survey (End-Use Survey) for Long-Term forecasting as mandated by RUS.
  • Responsible for maintaining and analyzing all weather data needed for Short and Long-Term Forecasting and all of AECC's needs.
  • Coordinates enhancements of Short and Long-Term Forecasts with Power Market Operations and other departments. Responsible for the acquisition, manipulation, and maintenance of necessary related data.
  • Provide expertise in electronic data storage, organization, and retrieval to provide support to the department on routine data needs and/or software support for Power Market Operations tools and applications.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Meteorological Sciences, or similar field, plus 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Experience with statistical software, such as SAS, R, or Python, preferred.
  • Experience with programming, such as SQL, Sisense, or B.I. Tool, preferred.
