Job Description

Position Purpose

This position provides proficient administrative and para-professional support in a competent, professional, and confidential manner to the General Counsel and the Legal Department. This position will have direct interaction with corporate executives, hospital administration, staff, physicians, board members, vendors, state agencies, outside attorneys, law enforcement, and outside organizations.

This position requires a high degree of independence, self-motivation, competency efficiency, and professionalism, and is responsible for communications which are often of a confidential nature.

Nature and Scope

Duties include, but are not limited to, organizing and monitoring projects belonging to the General Counsel and the Legal Department; Coordinating meeting arrangements, court appearances, and depositions; organize and expedite flow of work between the Legal Department and outside law offices, establish and maintain confidential files and records; update and maintain corporate records and corporate filings with the Nevada Secretary of State; complete data entry for case summaries, litigation holds, contracts, and subpoena updates into appropriate electronic programs; perform legal research, assist in preparing contracts, agreements, and pleadings related to litigation and non-litigation matters; process invoices for payment for Legal Department; possess knowledge of court filing dates, various court systems, and their local rules; maintain insurance files, requests for confirmation of insurance coverage, claims data, and file insurance claims.

In addition, this position requires critical thinking skills to independently interact with operational departments and initiate or assist operational improvements required in order to comply with law or regulation and/or improve interdepartmental operational efficiency.

Due to the wide diversity of responsibility and the need to interact and collaborate with administrative staff, physicians, department managers and supervisors on a daily basis, superb organizational and communication skills are essential.

This position does not provide patient care.

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. A certificate in paralegal studies or proven success in a similar position is preferred. An associate degree in paralegal studies or related field of study is strongly preferred.

Experience:

3-5 years administrative support is required; 5 years preferred.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
