Job Description

The Reports Coordinator (Staff Associate II) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day tasks of the Communities Speak Reports & Comms team. This includes assigning and monitoring the work of all staff and student members of the reports & comms team, tracking team progress and goals towards overall project objectives, milestones and deadlines, delegating workload amongst team members and ensuring each member has what is required to successfully complete deliverables on appropriate deadlines. The Staff Associate II will also be responsible for meeting with project leadership weekly to report on team progress and assist in development and delivery strategies. The Staff Associate II will also be called upon to lead specific aspects of training for cohort city staff as it relates to the content and use of survey tools.

The Staff Associate II will guide and facilitate the development, drafting and publishing of all Communities Speaks findings artifacts and communications including press releases, data one-pagers, data and policy reports, memos, op-eds and journal articles, social media content, and associated documentation and literature related to all CS activities. The Staff Associate II will be the point person in working with cohort city staff on their documentation and materials development for all related CS activities, as well as providing guidance and templates for cohort city personnel to use for their own data outcomes. The Staff Associate II will also be responsible for liaising and collaborating with other coordinators on the project on CS framework execution and refinement both for New York City and all cohort cities.

Specific duties include:

* Leading weekly reports & comms meeting

* Assigning and monitoring the work of full-time staff and graduate students assigned to the reports & comms team

* Updating and maintaining reports & comms tracking tools

* Maintaining and updating project website and associated social media accounts

* Coordinating the reporting and collaboration strategies for active partners based on annual dissemination, review schedules and determined outcomes

* Assisting in planning and meetings for partner feedback, data sharing and artifact creation

* Coordinating with partnerships team on the creation of partner materials for dissemination, data outputs and partner-specific needs

* Co-lead reports & comms-specific portions of professional development for cohort city personnel

* Contribute to reports & comms-related elements of cohort city personnel training plans

* Maintain regular coaching and check-in sessions with appropriate cohort city personnel for capacity building of their reports & comms tasks and skills

* Provide lead training to appropriate cohort city personnel on topics related to CS reports & comms work

* Supervise 3-6 graduate students


Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or social science is required. Master's degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or social science is preferred.

Minimum 4 years professional work experience required.

Minimum 4 years of leadership experience (coordinator, manager, director)

* Experience supervising at least 3 other reports

* Demonstrated prior experience and/or education in research and academic writing

* Prior work/research experience on local policy/public policy/social policy

* Prior leadership experience, preferably in a research or academic setting

* Prior experience in data-specific research and writing

* Proven experience in writing and communication for academic, government, community, and NGO audiences

* Strong knowledge of social policy and urban public policy research and literature

* Prior experience with community development and/or organization

* Strong presentation and communications skills

* Strong language, formatting, and editing skills

* Prior work experience liaising among multiple stakeholders for community planning and initiative implementation

* Prior experience working for and/or with community-based organizations around policy, governance, needs assessment or service delivery

* Prior leadership experience, preferably in the public and/or not-for-profit sector

* Prior experience leading and facilitating data-driven conversations for policy or programmatic purposes

* Prior experience with community development and/or organization

* Prior experience with web design (preferably wordpress)

* Prior experience managing and creating content for various social media platforms

* Prior experience with Canva and/or Adobe Editor

* Demonstrated strong research and methodological skills, with excellent attention to detail

* Ability to work independently, delegate effectively, solve problems, and to work collaboratively in small and medium size teams
