Overview

As an Energy Project Analyst, you will work in depth with modeling of renewable energy systems, energy storage, microgrids, electric vehicle planning, energy generation asset optimization and other models to support clients and project teams. This position will also contribute to the creation of new models and maintenance of existing models. The Energy Project Analyst may also manage renewable energy projects with oversight from one of the firm's Principals. Knowledge and/or experience in energy, energy policy, and financial assessment, particularly renewable energy in the US and California, is strongly preferred.

This position is in NV5's Clean Energy group and is part of Clean Energy's project management team. Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to be located in the San Rafael area and be onsite in a hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities
    Collect, clean, and analyze energy data.
  • Operate, maintain, and create proprietary MS Excel and Python financial and project performance models.
  • Advanced utilization of public energy models including Helioscope, Energy ToolBase, HOMER, etc.
  • Create data visualizations to help effectively convey information.
  • Draft and finalize technical reports for presentation to clients.
  • Develop and maintain trusting client and colleague relationships based on quality work and ethical conduct.
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, virtual, dynamic, and unstructured environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Required Education, Skills, and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree in engineering, science, or mathematics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong programming skills with knowledge of Python, including collaboration tools and processes.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Ability to build models in Excel and Python.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills to peers, managers, and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage tasks and responsibilities to work successfully in a dynamic and unstructured environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, approach projects with strong critical thinking, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Data visualization of complex data sets to improve client understanding using tools such as Python, R, Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Data management, including database administration.
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Experience with electrical grid interconnections, utility interactions.
  • Experience modeling solar PV, BESS, microgrid systems, EVSE performance and financials.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • LEED Accredited Professional and/or other relevant professional certifications a plus.

The pay range for this California position is $100,000.00- $130,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
