Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position
This open rank faculty position will be housed in the Visual and Performing Arts Department, and the primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate level courses, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and other activities. This position also manages theatre production and box office operations (i.e., plan, order, distribute and account for ticket sales; establish and maintain seating plans and ticket inventory; develop event marketing methods; coordinate fundraising efforts and perform related work, etc.).

This position will have experience: using a reserved seat ticketing system; implementing and monitoring sales and promotions; credit card and cash handling procedures. Knowledge of customer service and selling methods is preferred, as well as experience using computerized ticketing software, tracking ticket inventory levels, and ability to operate database software to store, retrieve and compile information into report format.

The person in this role is expected to collaborate with faculty and staff. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the department, College and University as needed.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts provides students with exceptional professional programs, which combine development in artistic disciplines and career preparation in the arts. These programs are delivered through individualized and small-group instruction within a broad-based curriculum.

The Visual & Performing Arts Department has a long-standing and nationally recognized academic and performance history, with contributions from each of our four areas of study: Dance, Music, Theater and Visual Arts. From Afro-Caribbean Dance to Jazz Music, Classical Theatre and Visual Design, our talented students are led by gifted professors whose primary goal is excellence.

The department fosters creativity, exploration and discovery in students though interdisciplinary collaboration and outreach, inspiring growth, change and global awareness through the arts. Our faculty subscribe to the highest academic, artistic and ethical standards for themselves and their students.

The Theatre program is accredited by The National Association of Schools of Theater (NAST) and has produced Grammy award winners and nominees.

The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is one of nine Colleges at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and also one of the largest academic units. With primary responsibility for providing general education requirements for the University, the College provides quality instruction, advisement and career/professional preparation not only for its own student majors, but also the University's student population. The Visual and Performing Arts Department is one of six departments within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences that also includes Criminal Justice, English, History & Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication and Liberal Studies. CAHSS enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 160 faculty members (full and part-time).

Minimum Requirements
MS, MBA, MFA and/or Ph.D. with at least three years' experience using a reserved seat ticketing system; implementing and monitoring sales and promotions; credit card and cash handling procedures.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
At least three years of teaching at the university level. Also, scholarly activity and service, preferably in a higher education setting.

Required License or Certification
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)
