Under the general supervision of the Personnel Supervisor I, the Personnel Specialist (PS) is responsible for personnel transactions and maintenance of personnel records necessary to facilitate the appointment, pay, and separation of employees for Folsom State Prison (FSP). These transactions must be completed in accordance with State laws, Bargaining Unit provisions, and departmental rules and regulations.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

This position works 'outside the walls' at Folsom State Prison; although, from time to time, may be required to go 'behind the walls' for deliveries, meetings, etc.

Folsom State Prison is located approximately 30 miles east of downtown Sacramento and just minutes from old town Folsom.

If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
