Learning and Development Specialist

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Learning and Development Specialist position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

This position is a positive, creative problem-solver who will report to the Manager, Learning and Development to help create and implement employee development programs that will enhance the employee experience across the employee lifecycle at Fike and includes supporting the day-to-day operations of the learning-related systems. The scope of responsibilities include a number of business-critical programs throughout the employee lifecycle, including but not limited to employee learning and career development, design and administration of learning and competency management systems, employee communications, and other training interactions and culture initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Supports the development of internal programs impacting employee experience and success across the company including learning and competency management systems, career development paths and other training support as needed.
  2. Loads, maintains and retires learning assets in the Learning and Development platforms including the Learning Management System (LMS) and Competency Management System (CMS).
  3. Maintains learning audiences in the LMS and CMS and assigns learning assets and skill assets as needed.
  4. Maintains desired reporting and tracking of LMS assets and CMS assets and associated activity.
  5. Monitors LMS and CMS functionality, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  6. Evaluates, tests and implements LMS and CMS functionality enhancements
  7. Conducts training intake interviews to identify key aspects of effective learning delivery and performs gap analysis for the prescription of impactful learning interventions.
  8. Supports the delivery of programs that educate employees on key leadership attributes and prepares employees for future leadership opportunities.
  9. Assists with development of training content that helps drive the successful delivery of corporate-wide training change management efforts that support Fike's intent to create a "destination workplace" culture of positive employee experiences.
  10. Supports the management of projects that deliver learning content to a variety of internal stakeholders and authors asynchronous learning using a variety of authoring software tools tailored to meet the current and future needs of the business.
  11. Supports the delivery of career development programs across the company to help guide employees on ways to develop and navigate their careers.
  12. Supports the development of HR policies regarding employee professional development including programs that improve employee skills, performance and earnings potential.
  13. Researches, plans, organizes, and may conduct training programs, seminars, and conferences for various personnel.
  14. Writes material for new training programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs; recommends appropriate changes.
  15. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  16. Researches industry landscape, emerging trends, best practices and makes program recommendations regarding employee learning, development, and experience programs.
  17. Supports Fike company values, practices and philosophy to deliver added value to employees.
  18. Adheres to the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) policies and procedures related to NIST 800-171 and completes all required CUI Awareness training, which includes collection, processing/handling, transmission, storage, and general safeguarding practices.
  19. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, work will be performed in an office, in a training room, or a fitness facility, depending on the task. Different types of physical exertion will be required and the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, talk, hear, see, sit and use hands. Must be able to travel as required.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, HR or a related field or the equivalent combination of experience is required. Two years or more of related experience. Knowledge of best practices, established professional networks and continuing education. Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate credibly and effectively across all levels of the organization. Comfortable delivering training, coaching and presentations. Experience with HRIS software. Working knowledge of general Human Resources practices, labor laws, and regulations. Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

PREFERRED: Professional Human Resources Certification. Experience with documenting processes, authoring SCORM files, LMS software, SuccessFactors, Paylocity, SalesForce, and/or Google Workspace Suite. Professional experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or in a global capacity.
