Job Description

The Admissions and Enrollment Department seeks a dedicated, dynamic, and experienced Senior Associate Director of Admissions, Middle and Upper School. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Middle and Upper School Admissions, with an ability to own admissions processes start to finish and contribute to analysis and improvement. Additionally, the incumbent must possess an enthusiastic commitment to the importance of building and sustaining a diverse, just, inclusive, and equitable academic environment.

General Summary:

Under the general direction of the AHOS for Admissions and Enrollment, the Senior Associate Director of Admissions, Middle and Upper School, is responsible for delivering a superior experience to applicant families. This position supports the recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts of the Office of Admissions and Enrollment by planning, coordinating, and directing activities designed to attract, enroll, and retain a diverse range of students and families to Collegiate School's Middle and Upper School divisions. This person is responsible for all aspects of parent volunteer lead tours, will conduct parent interviews, and has an ability to collect and interpret data and trends and set and meet goals aligned with the strategic vision of the Office of Admissions and Enrollment. The Senior Associate Director of Admissions, Middle and Upper School, must work well as a collaborative member of the Admissions team, participate in all Admissions events, and partner with other internal teams helping to ensure a successful admissions process for families.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversees and coordinates scheduling of appointments for interviews, tours, and group visits.
  • Interviews prospective students and families; maintains appropriate and timely communication with parents; reviews student visits and assessments with internal teams.
  • Reads and evaluates completed admission files and works closely and collaboratively with members of admissions committees and internal teams.
  • Attends fairs, visits schools, and works on outreach efforts with external partners.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and leads student tour guide program.
  • In conjunction with the AHOS for Admissions and Enrollment and Director of Admissions, Kindergarten and Lower School:
    • identifies and develops relationships with advocacy programs in NYC;
    • plans and leads on-campus and external events for Admissions; and
    • plans and oversees all yield events.
  • Plans and oversees all transition programs for new Middle and Upper School students and parents.
  • Plans and implements marketing, outreach, and operational strategies with office team and collaborates with team on communications and marketing materials.
  • Supports technological development in the Office of Admissions and Enrollment and functions, including engagement with systems, procedures, and data management.
  • Responsible for coordination of parent tour guides, student ambassadors, and faculty for student visits and events.
  • Create an environment and interact with families in a way that is aligned with our school culture priorities.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities as appropriate to remain current with best practices.
  • Assists the AHOS for Admissions and Enrollment with all duties as assigned, including special projects.
  • Provides research and reports as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in admissions and enrollment at an independent school; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.

Special Requirements:

Must be able to complete background and fingerprint checks.

  • Proficiency with technology including databases, spreadsheets, and online application platforms; ability to learn new technology and systems commensurate with program requirements; SchoolAdmin experience is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality in handling Admissions information;
  • Ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with respect;
  • Displays curiosity, a positive attitude, flexibility and a good sense of humor;
  • Ability to create reports and study analytics as it relates to the Admissions funnel, especially regarding enrollment, yield and long term projections;
  • Ability to follow all policies and procedures of the School as written in the Employee Handbook.
