This position will provide leadership, integration, and project management support of Extravehicular Activity & Human Surface Mobility (EHP) testing, facilities required for testing, including human-in-the-loop (HITL) assessments. The position at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) involves leading integration of multiple projects and NASA organizational stakeholders requiring validation and verification testing for EHP, driving collective decision making, while ensuring EHP goals are reached and development testing is leveraged effectively to facilitate stakeholder objectives.

This is a full-time position located at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This role is hybrid requiring 3-4 days on site, 1-2 days telework

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support development of EHP testing and facility architectures for long term planning. The Lunar Terrain Vehicle (i.e., unpressurized rover), EVA suits, Pressurized Rover, Technology Development, are projects for EHP that this position will work closely with to meet Artemis goals. Testing may include pressurized and unpressurized suited testing integration, simulations including software verification, analogs, and surface mobility hardware.

  • Provide project management expertise to EHP SE&I Integrated Testing and Facilities team, including oversight and coordination of multiple project activities, meetings, and tasks (technical, cost, schedule, and risk).

  • Lead and support in the design and execution of large- and small-scale multidisciplinary testing in human spaceflight analog environments.

  • Lead and support the assessment of engineering design concepts and testing and facility architectures.

  • Perform systems engineering, integration, leadership for test activities EHP conducts and/or funds.

  • Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, to react quickly to changing requirements and schedules, and to provide products of consistently high quality.

  • Communicate effectively and be able to summarize and present findings to EHP Management.

  • Effectively work with multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Although onsite support is expected, the ability to work effectively remotely, along with travel when necessary.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or another related STEM discipline

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in designing and executing multidisciplinary testing related to human spaceflight

  • The ability to assess concepts and design recommendations to conduct successful testing, while prioritizing resources appropriately

  • Experience and ability to lead in large- and small-scale human-in-the-loop testing to achieve specific goals and objectives, producing actionable and data-driven decisions

  • Experience and a recognized leader in using proven methods of collecting objective and subjective performance, engineering, and operations data related to testing, and utilizing consensus-based methods to make system level data driven recommendation

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, such as written reports, presentation experience, and architectural development

  • Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across program projects and external stakeholders

  • Willing to travel approx. 10%

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or another related STEM discipline

  • More than 3-5 years' experience in designing and executing multidisciplinary testing related to human spaceflight

  • The ability to quickly learn new technology needed for testing, including software, command and data handling, to allow success end to end validation and verification testing. .

  • Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)

  • Knowledge of NASA and commercial human spaceflight programs and processes

  • Testing and/or operations experience in NASA's facilities
