POSITION SUMMARY

Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is one of the most innovative public media organizations in the country. Every day, TPT uses the power of media to advance local storytelling, spur engagement and learning, help young people succeed and support adults in the pursuit of lifelong learning.

TPT's Marketing Team is offering a paid summer Social Media internship, working up to 30 hours per week and paid at $18.00 per hour. This role will learn about the daily social media activities involved in managing a beloved brand on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, X, LinkedIn and YouTube. In addition, this role will undertake a comprehensive project that is critical to developing an engaging social media presence and strategy.

Pay: $18.00 / hour

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

SOCIAL MEDIA EXECUTION (70% of time)

  • Monitor and engage with Twin Cities PBS social media audiences across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.
  • Foster meaningful connections with TPT's followers and encourage positive interactions within the community.
  • Identify relevant Minnesota-based social media influencers aligned with TPT's brand, mission and values.
  • Contribute to social media planning discussions and provide input on social media campaigns.
  • Assist in the creation of original social media assets, including informative carousels, vertical video and other creative design elements.
  • Research and apply the latest social media trends and best practices.

REPORTING AND RESEARCH (20% of time)

  • Track key social media metrics and performance indicators and share relevant data-grounded insights with the Marketing Team.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and research to identify industry trends and benchmarks.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (10% of time)

  • Participate as an active member of the Marketing Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience

  • Interns must be a recent college graduate or enrolled in a higher education program and pursuing a career in marketing, communications, media, journalism, or other relevant program.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • This is a hybrid work position. Ability to work remotely and manage time effectively is a must.
  • Experience with a variety of social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, X, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Experience interacting or communicating with ethnically diverse communities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to navigate projects with ambiguity and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to effectively use search engines to mine the internet for data and information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products.
  • Able to create compelling PowerPoint Presentations.
  • Able to work at a computer for extended lengths of time.
