Job Description

Postdoctoral Associate - Aging and Cardiac Regeneration

Rosenthal Lab

Bar Harbor, ME

The Rosenthal Lab at the Jackson Laboratory (JAX) in Bar Harbor, Maine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. Current projects in the lab include immune control of cardiac regeneration, identifying biomarkers of aging, exploration of the inflammatory-fibrosis axis in ischemic heart failure and cellular senesence. Through the NIH-funded JAX Cellular Senescence Network Mouse Tissue Mapping Center (JAX-Sen), a multi-PI program led by Dr. Rosenthal, we are profiling senescent cells in kidney, placenta, pancreas, and heart, selected for their clinical relevance to chronic diseases of aging. These profiling activities will yield subcellular resolution of biomolecular content in senescent cells not possible with human samples, and exploration of the role of mitochondria in cellular senescence along with an expanded set of senescent cell biomarkers. The Postdoctoral Associate will become part of the JAX-Sen network and will participate in the profiling of cardiac tissues, while developing their own research project. JAX-Sen is part of the larger SenNet Consortium (https://sennetconsortium.org) established to comprehensively identify and characterize the differences in senescent cells across the body, across various states of human health, and across the lifespan.

The Jackson Laboratory () in Bar Harbor, Maine, USA, is recognized internationally for its research excellence, unparalleled mouse resources, outstanding training environment characterized by scientific collaborations, and exceptional core services - all within a spectacular setting adjacent to Acadia National Park. In addition to lab-based training, JAX has developed a unique program for trainees to expand their professional skills in science communication, entrepreneurship, teaching, mentoring and laboratory management to best prepare postdocs for future career opportunities.

  • Ability to work on an independent research project in a team environment benefitting individual projects while supporting overall goals.

  • Experience with mouse as a model organism is essential;
  • Experience with computational analysis of -omics datasets is preferred.

To apply, please submit 1) a cover letter (one page maximum) describing research accomplishments and elaborating on why this position would represent a mutually beneficial opportunity base on your research interests and skills; please note: Applications without a cover letter will not be considered; 2) a current CV, and 3) the names of three references.
