The Quality Specialist has the role of deploying the Quality strategy for ABB Florence ELSE (Electrification Service) ensuring and controlling quality to exceed customer expectations, including compliance to both our commercial (ISO 9001:2015) and nuclear (10CFR50 Appendix B) quality assurance programs.

Your responsibilities

  • Help ensure compliance with both our commercial (ISO 9001:2015) and nuclear (10CFR50 Appendix B) quality assurance programs, including performing internal and external audits
  • Track and analyze plant metrics and drive improvements. Have ownership of our QMS documentation and Process Improvement programs
  • Support product manufacturing and inspection activities for Medium Voltage Breakers and Electro-mechanical relays
  • Support quality planning activities and customer audits on process, products, and the quality system
  • Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences
  • As customer field issues are raised and reported in our ABB Systems, provide response to customers and work towards resolving problems as required
Your background

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred, OR Technical Degree with minimum 3 years of experience (experience in Quality / Operational Excellence role preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach to issues and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Proficient in use of Six Sigma tools preferred
  • Proficient in SAP preferred
  • Sound knowledge of the ISO 9001 Standard. Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 & NQA-1 certifications)
  • Thorough understanding of standard engineering concepts and principles and in-depth knowledge of quality assurance programs and procedures
  • Ability to negotiate changes and influence decisions
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative, proactive problem preventer and solution seeker
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
