Inpatient Pharmacist

Rock Island, Moline, Bettendorf

Full-Time + Benefits

Variable 1st & 2nd Shift + Weekend Rotation

Under the general direction of the Manger Pharmacy Inpatient Operations the Pharmacist:

  • evaluates physician orders for appropriateness,
  • completes order verification
  • monitors medication effectiveness and safety
  • validates products prior to dispensing
  • assists with inventory management.

The Pharmacist will provide patient care services and also serve as a resource for drug information to the medical and nursing staff.

Responsible for oversite of Pharmacy Technicians working under the direction of the Pharmacist.

Responsibilities

Order Verification

  • Reviews medication orders and patient profiles for drug/drug and drug/allergy interactions and therapeutic duplications.
  • Makes recommendations to providers and documents interventions.
  • Participates in monitoring medications for safety and effectiveness.

Medication Dispensing

  • Perform medication verification as required by law.
  • Oversee technician preparation of medication orders including hospital compounded medications.

Departmental Support

  • Participates in product selection, procurement and receiving of pharmaceuticals.
  • Provides medication related education and information to providers

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved College of Pharmacy and possesses a BS degree in Pharmacy.

Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Registered Pharmacist in the state of IL and IA

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Efficient time management and prioritization of work.
  • Demonstrates accountability, flexibility, and teamwork.
