The University of New Mexico Health Science Center, Department of Pediatrics seeks an individual who has strong supervisory skills and advanced knowledge and experience in both unrestricted and Contract/Grant accounting, to join our accounting team. The Department of Pediatrics is a large clinical department consisting of approximately 140 faculty, 370 staff, and 18 divisions. The Accountant 3 position will supervise and oversee the accounting group's day-to-day accounting operations, researching and problem-solving budget, procurement, fund, and expenditure issues for a fast-paced department. In accordance with Division Chiefs/Faculty, Department Management and the accounting team, this position will participate in division budget and financial meetings and will fiscally oversee our most financially complex division. The preferred candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated with exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to establish priorities and complete projects on time. Being a team player, demonstrating excellent verbal/written communication skills, and having the ability to work independently as well as overseeing the work of others is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
