Summary

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the development of high-quality control systems for Oshkosh Vehicles. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be working with a functional safety manager in a collaborative environment to apply software safety processes and analysis across multiple electric vehicle (EV) and advance drive assist system (ADAS) development projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide project teams in the evaluation of safety-critical control and software systems for both defense and commercial vehicles
  • Work directly with systems engineers and developers to design safety architectures
  • Lead failure analyses such as Failure Mode and Effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Define, create, and maintain safety related documentation

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, software, systems, or equivalent engineering degree
  • Process and system-oriented thinking
  • Understanding of CAN control system design and development
  • Ability to interact across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualification

  • 1-3 years of requirements development experience
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and/or Mil-STD-882
  • Experience with requirements management and modeling tools such as IBM DOORS, Medini, MagicDraw, SysML
