Job Overview

The SMART Construction Solutions intern will have the opportunity to help continue to advance Komatsu's efforts in the digital space. The intern will have the opportunity to be involved in Komatsu's Smart Construction, e-commerce, IoT, technical support, quality reporting and the contract business. This role will be exposed to a variety of Komatsu's departments, distributors and internal-facing systems within our business in North America.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Understand how we partner with our distributors and how we service our customers. Learn and engage with our systems, solutions and industry applications.
  • Learn about our proprietary technology and what we are doing to continue to be an innovative and industry leading organization.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external partners such as IT, software vendors/developers, other Komatsu departments and subsidiaries and our parent company located in Japan, Komatsu Limited.
  • Interns will be responsible for completing an Internship Project. Interns will own the project from beginning to end and present to Komatsu C-suite Executives and leaders at the end of the internship.
  • Converse with customers about their jobsite operations
  • Ability and interest in data science to identify the bottleneck/challenge in customer's jobsite operations and recommend ways to optimize with Komatsu solutions or suggest opportunities for improved operations
  • Ability to visualize commercialization status such as revenue, # of customers, # of jobsites, what type of customers, etc., and suggest new marketing strategies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Senior standing in Bachelor Degree Program (Business, Marketing, Information Systems, Technology, Engineering or Management)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 on 4.0 Scale or Equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical project work and open-ended problem solving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/PowerPoint/Word). Database and dashboarding experience is a plus.
  • Interest/experience in supporting or actively utilizing cutting edge systems, software, and/or data streams as it relates to the stated position.
  • Organized and efficient time manager ideal, especially relating to optimizing daily activity, end user requests, and discrete projects.
