Summary

Xcel Energy has an opportunity for an internship with the Information Technology organization. This unique internship will offer access to work with the IT Service Deliver – Generation Project Support. The successful candidate will gain insight and exposure to the elements of how IT Service Delivery works. Over the course of 12 months (20-40 hours per week), the intern will work on specific projects within the IT team. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in several site visit opportunities as well as intern networking engagements.

IT Service Delivery – Generation: The intern will support IT Service Delivery with daily tasks and needs. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Gain insight and exposure to the elements of application support and application development from a utility perspective in addition to understanding how those applications are utilized to provide benefit and value to Xcel Energy’s Power Generation portfolio.
• Over the course of 12 months, through hands-on work, the intern will learn how to support and develop various applications while working within a dynamic team environment.

Requirements

The applicant must be energetic and competent, and willing to commit to a minimum of 20 hour a week over 12 months within the Xcel Energy Information Technology organization. The applicant’s graduation date must not precede the completion date of the internship program.

Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, engineering, mathematics, analytics or business. Must be a current student. No graduate student applicants, please.

• Freshman through Senior standing (must not be graduated if senior)
• High academic standing – GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Strong work ethic and initiative
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Any experience with the following technologies would b desired – SharePoint, Windows, Unix, (AIX and Linux), C/C++, Java, SQL Server, SQ/PLSQL, Project management Experience, Oracle, OSISoft PI, Hadoop, SAP Lumira, Tableau, D3, Python, JavaScript, Pig, R, SAP HANA, Hive, Teradata
• Must be located near Minneapolis
